Jude 1

1 [Martin Luther also denied this book because it conflicted with his justified only by faith doctrine, which faith he defined as belief in Jesus being the Son of God. Jude, a natural brother of Jesus, strongly disputes the doctrine of grace justifying a believing man still walking after his own lusts, saying that it is twisting grace into a fictitious license for immorality; and that the people who were teaching it were covetous for money, destined to be destroyed in blackest darkness.]

1 Jude, the bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are called and sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:

2 Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

3 Beloved, while I was diligent to write to you about the common salvation, I found it necessary to write and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith,1 which was once delivered to the saints.

4 For there are certain men who have crept in unnoticed, written about long ago, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lawlessness and wantonness, a license for immorality; and deny and disown our only Master and Lord Jesus Christ.2 [These men transferred the meaning of grace from the truth: that with repentance the Spirit of God commands us to deny lusts and ungodliness as it purifies us to be able to live a soberly, godly life in this present world transferred instead to the twisted lie that grace excuses all past, present, and future sins in believers, thereby excusing believers to live in their lusts and pride as they please with no laws. The false church has made the blood of Jesus an excuse for evil; therefore they have made His blood an unholy thing; and so they trample on the son of God and show contempt for grace. Heb 10:29. It is not what one says that makes Jesus their Lord or Master, but their deeds. By claiming grace excuses all continuing to sin, these men denied and disowned Jesus as their Lord and Master, who said, "repent or perish, and sin no more." From the Word of the Lord within: "Remember, every person who sins denies Him as Lord and Master. Do you agree with any who in their arrogance have stated that God excuses evil in believers? It's not fair, but they don't care. They have taken the Bible and made it an unholy thing used to justify their immersion in sin. They would have no laws. The new law became unrighteousness. Christianity has no idea what I am or for what I stand." Peter identified the false christian leaders of his time also: "For speaking great swelling words of vanity, they lure through the lusts of the flesh and much wantonness, those who were barely escaping from those who live in error. Although these false teachers promise them liberty, they themselves are the slaves of corruption [sin, immorality]; for by whatever a man is overcome, he is enslaved." 2 Peter 2:18-19. False teachers promise liberty to continue in sin, but Jesus said, "Truly, Truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin." John 8:34. The wages of sin is death. Rom 6:23. Not only has Christianity made grace a license for immorality, but Christianity has caused their believers' consciences to be seared as with a hot iron, leaving them indifferent to sin and evil. There is a liberty for a crucified son of God, free from all sin, walking in love and fulfilling the law; but until you are free from all sin, you are subject to being banned from heaven when you die.]

5 Therefore I will remind you, though you once knew this, how the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. [The Law of Sin and Death is voided only when have crucified your sinful mind and spirit; consequence-free sin is make-believe Christianity. From the Word of the Lord within: "Do not be confused; do not be misled; you must break a suspected action. Consequence-free sin does not exist; the consequences are truly staggering. There is a war you must win; sin must be overcome; the fleshly lusts war against your soul."]

6 And the angels who did not keep their first place, but left their own habitation, he has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

7 Just as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them who gave themselves over to sexual immorality and perversion, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

8 These filthy dreamers also defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignities. [2000 years ago, Jude speaks of a few men who had infiltrated the true Christians, preaching their false message that grace excused all past, present, and future sins. Today grace, being a license for immorality, is the 400 year-old cornerstone of Protestant doctrine. Therefore Christendom is now full of filthy dreamers: filthy because their hearts are defiled with all manner of sins they still commit with disregard to the Lord's many warnings and requirements, and dreaming that they are saved and righteous. The Roman and orthodox sects are similarly full of filthy dreamers who dream that their heathenish masses, confessions, penance, and eucharists expiate the sin from their filthy defiled hearts, which rituals the Lord has described as conflagration, (great destruction). From the Word of the Lord within: "Christianity has no idea what I am or for what I stand. The enemy is in all of Christendom. Everyone is expecting Jesus to be their excuse. They are a stubborn people; their hearts have waxed cold. They think to be saved by making a noise about being saved. They are a clueless, fruitless people. All are filthy dreamers."]

9 Yet even Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil, as he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring a railing accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you."3

10 But these people speak evil of things that they do not understand; and they corrupt themselves by those things that they know naturally, like unreasoning beasts.

11 Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, and have run greedily after the error of Balaam for pay, and have perished in the gainsaying [rebellion] of Korah.

 12 These are spots in your feasts of love, where they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear. They are clouds without water, carried along by the wind; trees without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom the blackness of darkness is reserved forever.

14  Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these, saying, "Behold, the Lord has come in tens thousands of his saints,4

15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds that they have committed, and of all the hard things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

16 These are grumblers and complainers, walking after their own lusts; their mouth speaks great flattering words, admiring men in order to gain advantage.

 17 But, beloved, remember the words that were spoken before from the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

18 How they told you there would be mockers in the last time, who would walk after their own ungodly lusts.

19 These are those who separate themselves [cause divisions], sensual, not having the Spirit.5

20 But you, beloved, build up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

21 Keeping yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring eternal life.6 [You are to experience and see Jesus to bring eternal life, just as Jesus brings your salvation. Neither salvation or eternal life occurs without first destruction of the sinful nature on the inward cross of self-denial, through persistent and patient waiting on God in humble silence, listening, watching, and obeying Him, which obedience is evidence of belief. But if we hope for what we do not yet see, then we wait for it with patience. Rom 8:25. Eternal life and salvation come to those who heed and obey the commands of God as they persistently and patiently wait on Him, Heb 5:9, 9:28.]

 22 Refute and convict those who quarrel with you. Have compassion and mercy on some who are doubting;

23 Save others, snatching them out of the fire; on others have pity but with fear, hating even to touch the hem of their garments polluted by their fleshly indulgences [immoral behaviors]. [Fleshly indulgences and immoral behaviors are explained by the fruits of the flesh. To know which to snatch from the fire vs. which to shrink from touching them is only possible if you are in his presence, (as stated the next verse below), totally following God's direction in your words to speak and deeds to be done.]

24 Now to the one who is able to keep you from falling, and to cause you to stand, rejoicing, without blemish before his glorious presence, [From the Word of the Lord within: "We stand in His presence; in the kingdom we stand before God and His holy angels; we behold His beauty. We stand in the presence of God speaking forth His words as commanded. A perfect man hears what to do — a time of great joy."]

25 To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.

1 you should earnestly contend for the faith. Faith must grow. Every revelation you hear or see from God increases your faith. Peter defined the process of faith's growth, where he said: make every effort to add to your faith. 2 Pet 1:5-7. Your faith must stand in your experience of the power of God, not in words spoken by men or reading. The power of God is promised to deliver you [separate you] from your sins, which is salvation. You are saved through faith, and by faith your hearts are purified; but obviously in the beginning of faith, you are not purified, neither are you saved. You must contend for the faith, grow in the faith, build up your faith, increase in faith, perfect what is lacking in your faith, fight the good fight of faith, until victory, when your faith is finished by the finisher; faith is a process and a journey of works of repentance and love, the end of which is to see Christ bring your salvation, to bring your eternal life.

With what are you contending? Your own selfish nature; your lusts and affections; your pride and your pleasures — these are the enemies of your soul — sin. How do you contend against sin? By faith, which is to deny your own will and obey the spoken-to-you commands of God. Such faith will lead to your heart being purified, lead you to the glorious Christian rest and to receive the fruit of the Spirit, which includes a large additional measure of faith.

2 For certain men, whose condemnation was written about long ago, have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny and disown our only Master and Lord Jesus Christ. Regarding instant salvation by grace: from the Word of the Lord within, "it is twisted, pernicious lies, a fatal flaw that turns aside the just." The meaning of grace has been transferred into lies from the truth of the Spirit of God teaching and changing you to live a soberly, godly life in this world to instead become a lying license for immorality and continuing in our sinful natures with no repentance required. By claiming grace excuses all sin, all such men deny Jesus as their Lord and Master, who said, "repent or perish, and sin no more." Jude shows us that this evil perversion of doctrine began 2000 years ago in the early church. They were written about long ago by Moses when he wrote about Cain, Balaam, and Korah, the forefathers of these perverse Christians who change grace into wantonness, licentiousness, or a license to sin. Although this verse alone completely exposes Protestant Christianity's false grace, it remains their 400 year-old, doctrinal cornerstone.

Paul tells us about those who claim to know God, but deny him by their sinful lives: They profess that they know God; but they deny him by what they do, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work, Tit 1:16; (good works are those that God directs a pure man to perform). You can call him Lord, you can call him Master, but so did Judas, even kissing Him; it is not what you say that makes Jesus your Lord or Master, but your deedsyour obedience to his teachings and commands. By your deeds you either acknowledge him or deny him as your Lord and Master. If you sin, you deny him as your Lord and Master. A Lord or Master rules His servant, and Jesus does not rule over commission of sin. Until you are free of sin, He is not your Lord or Master. You are the slaves of whom you obey; whether of sin that leads to death, or of obedience that leads to righteousness? Rom 6:16. From the Word of the Lord within: "Remember, every person who sins denies Him as Lord and Master. If you are still sinning, you belong to sin and not to me."

Having crept in among the sanctified Christians, they too would be claiming to be Christians. Of course they would say that they believe in Jesus and God, but they denied and disowned him as their actual only master and ruling Lord God by their words, thoughts, and deeds; they denied the necessity of the controlling anointing of Christ's spirit to rule their hearts. They deny the necessity of Jesus to be their actual Lord and Master, perfectly controlling our thoughts, words, and deeds. On the night Judas betrayed Jesus, leading the mob to arrest him, Judas kissed Jesus and called him Master, as he said: "Hail Master;" but by his actions of betrayal he denied Jesus to be his Lord and Master. Christendom denies and disowns Jesus too by teaching instant salvation by grace, while ignoring Jesus' teachings of salvation's exclusions, requirements, and qualifying conditions. To ignore his teachings and commands, is to deny and disown Jesus as Lord and Master. Jesus is not Lord or Master of anyone who still sins: as he said, Truly, Truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. John 8:34. If you are still sinning, you are still walking according to the ways of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air [Satan], Eph 2:2-3; Satan is your Lord.

These false Christians deny the narrow way's result of Jesus being in total control of them, while professing the broad-easy way's false doctrine of instant salvation: Christ having paid for all your sins: past, present, and future; consequence-free sin. They deny the necessity of repentance, perfectionpurity — and holiness, all made possible by carrying the inward cross of self-denial. These were fleshly menunperfected false ministers, uncrucified, without having received the increase of the Spirit of God through obedience; what they had, had been lost. The false gospel of grace was being sold as salvation 2000 years ago; unfortunately false, instant salvation, has become universal in Protestant sects today; and all sects are deficit sects. And so, the warning of Hebrews 10:29 applies to Christendom today:

How much more severe a punishment, do you suppose, will be thought worthy for one who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has acted with spite [contempt] to the Spirit of grace? Heb 10:29.

The false church has made the blood of Jesus an excuse for evil, and therefore they have made his blood an unholy thing; and so they trample on Jesus and show contempt for grace. Heb 10:29. What is worse, they have changed the covenant, which Isaiah prophesied would result in the Lord devouring the earth, with few men left. Isa 24:5-6; which time fast approaches, and in which all who sin will be removed from the earth, not with water as in Noah's time, but with a scourge.

It is the Lord who is supposed to appoint by gift his preachers, teachers and evangelists, whose sole purpose is the perfection of the saints. Eph 4:-11-13.
No unperfected person can fulfill the ministry's function, which is the perfection of the saints; any unperfected teacher/preacher is a false minister, not having been appointed or gifted by God. Jesus specifically warns us that unperfected ministers are blind guides and tells us to leave them. Luke 6:39-45, Mat 15:14. Any unperfected minister, by his unauthorized and false preaching or teaching, denies Jesus as Lord and Master.

It is the Lord who is supposed to send the workers to the fields of harvest, Mat 9:38, but today's ministers have not been appointed nor have they been sent by direct orders. They are man-appointed, man-taught, and man-sent, and as such they are not Christ's. Instead, they are Satan's ministers transformed to appear as ministers of righteousness, 2 Cor 11:14-15.

Peter even warned us to be careful with Paul's letters, the false gospel's source, (which was Romans and 1 Corinthians), that they were easily misunderstood:

even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you; As in all his letters, speaking in them of these things; in which some things are hard to understand, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest [twist], as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

Therefore, beloved, since you know these things before, beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. 2 Peter 3:15-17. (If you only partially read Romans, you can easily misunderstand grace, thinking you need do nothing but have faith in Jesus; but if you look at the whole letter, as it was intended to be read, you know you have to kill your sinful nature to be pleasing to God. Look at Paul's Romans 8:8, Romans 8:13, Phil 2:12, Galatians 5:19-24, 2 Cor 7:1, 1 Thes 4:7, 1 Cor 15:34, and I declared.. that they should repent and turn to God, and do works consistent with repentance. Acts 26:20 if you have any doubt.)

This doctrine of guilt-free sin is the intoxicating cup that the Whore of Babylon offers and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication," Rev 17:2; the wine of her fornication is the false promise of living in lusts and pride with no consequence of the fury of God. And the whole world has drunk from her cup and follows this Whore who pretends to be the bride of Christ, riding the beast with horns like a lamb, (appearing to look like Christ).

In Revelation 2:6 and 2:15, Jesus states that He hates the deeds and doctrines of the Nicolaitians. According to early Quaker Stephen Crisp, who dwelled in the kingdom, the doctrine of the Nicolaitians was: since the law is dead, as long as you have faith, there is no sin to be counted against you, which is the cornerstone of today's Protestant Christianity — that grace excuses their past, present, and future sins — thereby transferring the meaning of grace to become a license for immorality. From the Word of the Lord within: "They have taken the Bible and made it an unholy thing used to justify their immersion in sin." Margaret Fox replied strongly to the ministers and teachers of corruption in her time, who taught that the entire law of God was cancelled and replaced by just believing in Jesus. This letter is also on the Until Your Words and Deeds are Prompted by God, You Must Obey the Inner Law on the Heart of Every Man web page, and perfectly applies to Christianity's false doctrines today.

3 Yet even Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil, as he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring a railing accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you." he (Michael) disputed (with Satan) about the body of Moses. This has been the source of great controversy among Bible scholars; many theories abound as to this verse's meaning.

Moses has been told by the Lord to speak to a rock before their, (the children of Israel's) eyes, and it shall give forth water. Instead Moses had expressed anger at the people and then struck the rock twice. Despite this being the way the Lord had previously told Moses to strike the rock to bring water from the rock at Horeb, Moses was disqualified from entering the promise land by God due to his failure to follow orders; (this should be a major warning to us all that God requires us to completely and fully follow His orders, which He told us in Jer 7:23: Listen to and obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk completely in the ways that I command you, so that it may be well with you. To obey completely and fully is to do an ordered work perfectly, which Jesus demands in Revelation 3:2).

Years later, Moses had died. The Lord buried him in a secret sepulcher in a valley in the land of Moab. Apparently Satan, reasoning that Moses was not good enough to cross the Jordan, presented a claim on Moses; but God denied the claim, as we know from Luke's account of James, Peter, and John, seeing Moses in glory with Elijah in counsel with Jesus. Luke 9:28-36. We imagine this contention of Michael with Satan taking place in Moses' sepulcher, but it probably took place in the heavens.

So the question becomes: exactly what was Michael and Satan contending over? What was Satan trying to claim?

Was it Moses' body? No, we are told the body was buried, and physical bodies return to the earth as dust: Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was, Ecc 12:7.

Was it the spirit of Moses? No, we are told that all spirits of men return to God: and the spirit shall return to God who gave it. Ecc 12:7

That leaves the soul. In Genesis the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all livestock, and every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life," Gen 3:14; and in Isaiah we also read dust shall be the serpent's food. Isa 65:25. From the Word of the Lord within: "the dust the devil eats is the physical manifestation of the spiritual." Man's physical body turns to dust. In Hell, man's soul, the spiritual, is destroyed by God: fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Mat 10:28. Perhaps that explains the ferocious opposition that the devil applies to the true believer; he is greedy for his food. Satan wanted Moses' soul for his food, apparently not willing to let a morsel escape his claim.

As bad as that sounds, if souls of the unpurified are the devil's only food, you can see why he is relentless, prowling around the camp, (true Christian people), like a roaring lion, seeking those whom he can devour, 1 Pet 5:8; I used to read that and think "devour" was being used figuratively, but apparently it is literal. George Fox posed this next greater question:

If their [those still sinning] god and prince's food is dust, and he goes upon his belly, then how will you disobedient ones, in whom he rules, go? [Fox says men in Hell will be going on their bellies, Mark 9:48 supports: Where the worm does not die.] What is your food but dust? [Fox says our food is the same of our prince's food]. For do you think you must fare better, or go better than your god and prince, that is out of truth, and there is no truth in him does? Oh, no; therefore obey truth, which the world's god and prince is out of; and the pure Spirit of God, that foul, unclean spirit is out of; and then you will have heavenly milk and wine, and the honey and honeycomb, and bread of life from heaven, by which you may live by Christ that gives it you, the prince of life, who destroys the prince of death, and his followers, that will not have Christ to rule over them.

In a letter to Justice Sawrey, warning him of the consequences of Hell for his cruel persecution the early Quakers, George Fox wrote: "How will you be gnawed and burned one day, when you shall feel the flame, and have the plagues of God poured upon you, and you begin to gnaw your tongue for pain, because of the plagues!"

(Michael) dared not bring a railing accusation against him (Satan), but said, "The Lord rebuke you."

I had been taught by Babylon's experts to never hesitate to rebuke the devil if you thought he was tempting you or getting in your way. One day as I was thoroughly rebuking the devil, (or so as I thought), I heard the Lord say to me: "Let me rebuke him, not you." Think about it: if we are not to utter a word of criticism of other people, which is judging, which is to assume the role of God, how much dumber is it to criticize and rebuke heavenly dignitaries who have the power to bring storms, fire from heaven, kill masses of animals, kill hundreds of thousands of people, etc.

4 Behold the Lord has come in tens thousands of his saints. All the Bibles in the world today have mistranslated this verse to read, the Lord comes "with" tens thousands of his saints instead of the Lord comes "in" tens thousands of his saints; this same mistake has been made in all the English bibles, (click to see). George Fox has a list of translation errors that he knew were wrong, including this one, and then he checked the original Greek to support his statement. You too can see that the translators had a choice between "with" and "in." The translators were all unregenerated men of the false church, and so had no idea what the Lord's coming (or appearing, or arising, or come into) even was. It never occurred to them that the Lord had appeared "in" individuals who had been purified by his grace on the inward cross of self-denial, and so they naturally translated it as "with." You can see the options of the word "with [1722] " in the full verse by hovering your mouse over the underlined number "1722," or by clicking here for the detail of 1722. You can also see the Note 3, which states the actual Greek is "has come," a proleptic arorist tense.

Tens thousands is at least 20,000, (but less than hundreds of thousands, even less than 200,000), and is in agreement with the first fruits to God, the 144,000 thousand who follow the lamb, (were obedient to), wherever He goes, which verse in Revelation 14:4, speaks only of undefiled "men," but according to the Word of the Lord within it is: "male or female who have overcome their desire for sex," and "sexual desires can be overcome." The prophecy that Jude cites in this verse apparently originates from The Book of Enoch, which Wikipedia summarizes below:

The Book of Enoch is an ancient Jewish religious work, traditionally ascribed to Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah. It is not part of the biblical canon as used by Jews, apart from Beta Israel. It is regarded as canonical by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church, but not by any other Christian group.

The older sections (mainly in the Book of the Watchers) are estimated to date from about 300 BC, and the latest part (Book of Parables) probably was composed at the end of the 1st century BC.

Since Enoch died around 3000 BC, the creation dates above, (which are thousands of years later), rule out Enoch actually writing the text; though the unknown authors could have accurately quoted a statement from Enoch based on some other lost writing. There are many other impossibilities in this book, which are too many to list. Therefore, despite Jude quoting a prophecy of Enoch, I dismiss this supposed Book of Enoch as 99% fiction because it claims the reference to "the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair, and they took wives of any of them that they chose" were angels that married human women, who then gave birth to giants; there are several problems with that statement:

5 These are those who separate themselves [cause divisions], sensual, not having the Spirit. From the Word of the Lord within: "they did not have patience." These men did not have the patience to stay in the cross until their sinful nature was slain; but being ambitious to preach and teach, they separated themselves from the true believers who were patiently and persistently waiting on God. These false prophets are covetous, still living in their sinful nature, flattering men to obtain control over them. Speaking words from their carnal minds, not from the Spirit of God, as do the true ministers. Preaching for money, they had not been sent by God; but claimed to be God's ministers. Here is what God said he would do to such people claiming to represent him, when he never directly authorized them: I will bring upon them an everlasting reproach and perpetual shame that will never be forgotten, Jer 23:40.

John best described them:

Little children, it is the last time; and as you have heard that antichrist will come, even now many antichrists have come. By this we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us; but they went out, so that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 1 John 2:18-19.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits to see whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

And Peter also described such men:

This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority, [such as the Apostles who tried to correct them]. 2 Peter 2:10
....Then continuing with 2 Peter 2:12
They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast [hearing the Word spoken in fellowship] with you. With eyes full of adultery, [still subject to lust and lovers of money and the world instead of God] they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed—an accursed brood! They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Beor, who loved the wages of wickedness, [they preached for money, which Peter prohibited]. But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey—a beast without speech—who spoke with a man's voice and restrained the prophet's madness. [Fox said his era's ministers' spiritual progress was less than that of Balaam's ass because the ass spoke the Word of the Lord, but the ministers could not even hear the Lord's voice, much less speak the Word of the Lord; they could only quote the Bible; exactly like the ministers today.]

These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. For they mouth empty, boastful words, and by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those [lustful desires of sinful nature] who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. 2 Peter 2:17-20.
(And Jesus said, I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. John 8:34)

And Paul also spoke of false Christians who opposed the crucifixion of the sinful nature:

Brothers, be followers of me, and observe those who walk after the pattern we have set, so that you have us for an example.
For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their stomach [appetites], and whose glory is in their shame, who set their mind on earthly things. Phil 3:17-19

For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:13
As long as we live in our sinful nature, we are unruly and incapable of being ruled, controlled, or led by a Lord or King. So, if you want Jesus to be your Lord and King, you must put to death your selfish, sinful nature by repentance to purity on the inward cross of self-denial.

See George Fox's Excellent Writing on The False Teachers in Christianity.

6 Beloved, while I was diligent to write to you about the common salvation, I found it necessary to write and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith, which was once delivered to the saints. Keeping yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring eternal life. Jude 1:3,21. Now if you think that just believing is all that is necessary, for what are you advised to contend? And if you think you are instantly saved by believing, why would the brother of Jesus be writing believers that they must keep themselves in the love of God, looking, (future tense), for Jesus to bring eternal life? Do you think you are a more special Christian than those in the early Church, founded by the Apostles, who were looking for a future bringing by Jesus of eternal life to them in their lifetime? Eternal life is brought by Jesus at the completion of one's salvation in all generations of those who have the hope and have purified themselves! To those who persistently and patiently wait for him he will appear the second time, not to bear sin, but to bring full salvation. Heb 9:28. To wait on God is to persistently and patiently sit in humble silence, listen for his voice and words, watch for his revelations, hear his commands, and then obey Him; only those who heed and obey Him receive eternal salvation. Heb 5:9. You are saved through faith, and by faith your hearts are purified; but obviously in the beginning of faith, you are not purified, neither are you saved. Before purification and salvation, your faith must be tested in several trials, in which you must grievously suffer in order to be purified of sin. You must contend for the faith, grow in the faith, build up your faith, increase in faith, perfect what is lacking in your faith, fight the good fight of faith, until victory when your faith is finished by the finisher; faith is a process and a journey, the end of which is to see Christ bring your salvation, to bring your eternal life.
