Luke 10:8-20

Display Chapter and Footnotes

And into whatever city you enter, where they welcome you, eat whatever they set before you.

Heal the sick that are in it and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near you.'

But into whatever city you enter, where they do not welcome you, go out into the streets of that city, and say,

'Even the very dust of your city, which clings on us, we wipe off against you. Nevertheless be sure of this: the kingdom of God has come near you.'

But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city.

Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they would have repented a great while ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.

And you, Capernaum, which is exalted to heaven, shall be thrust down to hell.

He who hears you hears me; and he who rejects you rejects me; and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."

Now the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us through your name."

And he said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions [evil spirits inside a man], and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."
