Luke 9:35

Display Chapter and Footnotes

35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This is my beloved Son. Listen to [believe, and obey] him." [This applies to all of us. We must hear the Lord speak to us and then obey; to obey is to follow. From the Word of the Lord within: "Follow precisely; do not deviate."]

Hebrews 5:9

Display Chapter and Footnotes

9 And being made perfect, he [Jesus] became the author and source of eternal salvation to all those who heed and obey him;1 [Salvation is to be delivered (freed) from all sin, even the desires, through persistent obedience to the Spirit that mortifies the selfish human spirit on the inward cross of self-denial. You must persistently and patiently wait for Him in silence to hear his commands, as you listen and watch; then heed and obey Him. From the Word of the Lord within: "You must wait on the lord to receive salvation. Salvation comes to those who wait. Salvation comes to those who heed and obey. You will know the truth when you see Jesus bring your salvation. Salvation occurs when you are one with Christ and God."]

3 And by this we know that we know him: if we obey his commands. [The commands we hear as He speaks to us from within our heart; that is the word of faith that the Apostles preached.]

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commands.

3 For this is the love of God, that we obey his commands; and his commands are not burdensome. [To obey his commands is to fulfill the law, walking in the light as children of light, in loving obedience to the total control of the Lord's Word and Light in your heart, (who is the Spirit of Christ), which Word and Light control and supply your thoughts, words, and deeds. Jesus said, "Truly, truly, I say to you; the Son can do nothing of himself [by his own will], but only does what he sees the Father do. For whatever things he [the Father] does, these are also likewise done by the Son." John 5:19. Jesus did nothing in his will, only by the Father's will; this is what it means when you pray: thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. All true sons do nothing of themselves, only what they are commanded to say and commanded what to do; as Paul confirmed: "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Rom 8:14. We have to learn from Him and be changed by Him to be able to only do the Father's will on earth, the same as the Father's will is done in heaven by the angels.]

John 14:15,23,24

15 If you love me, you will obey my commands. [Obey the commands you hear Him speak to you from within your heart; the words He speaks to you from within you heart impart the life of God. John 6:63. To hear Him, you must wait, listen, and watch; then obey what He commands you to do — if you love Him.]

23 And Jesus answered and said to him, "If a man loves me, he will obey my spoken words; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him."5 [They make their home in your heart; and they live in a kingdom, into which you are translated. When you are translated into the kingdom, (while still alive on earth), you also see Him. Jesus appears in your heart. Jesus is revealed. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them, and be their God." Rev 21:3. From the Word of the Lord within: "If you give heed to my words, I will dwell in you and walk in you."]

24 He who doesn't love me, does not obey my spoken words; and the spoken words that you hear are not mine, but are the Father's who sent me.

Romans 6:16

16 Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves to obey, you are the slaves of whom you obey; whether of sin that leads to death, or of obedience that leads to righteousness?5 [Obedience leads to being righteous. Without obedience, listening to and obeying the Word of God in your heart, you are a slave to sin. Jesus strongly confirms this: Truly, Truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. John 8:34. We through the Spirit, by faith, patiently wait for the hope of righteousness. Gal 5:5]

23 But this I commanded them, saying: 'Listen to and obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk completely in the ways that I command you, so that it may be well with you.'2 [To hear the Lord we must patiently and persistently listen in humble silence; then we must obey what he commands completely. To obey is to follow the Lord, which all must do in order to be a true disciple. From the Word of the Lord within: "Follow precisely; do not deviate."]

1 Peter 1:22

22 Purify your souls by obeying the truth into unfeigned love6 of the brothers, dearly loving one another fervently with a pure heart; [This has been mistranslated as having purified your souls. It is impossible to have purified your soul and still be without salvation; so they have yet to purify their souls. The original Greek Net Bible shows that "purify" in this verse is not past tense, it is present tense; and Footnote 5 in the original Greek Net Bible shows this verse to read "pure heart" in early manuscripts; later manuscripts eliminated the word "pure" to simply read "heart" not "pure heart."]

3 Remember therefore what you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent.2 If you do not wake up and watch, I will come upon you like a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. [From the Word of the Lord within: "Keep on repenting from the evil He shows you in your heart. Continue with me; continue in obedience."]
