2 But who can endure the day of his coming? And who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap;
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried. They will call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say, 'They are my people;' and they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'"
29 For our God is a consuming fire. [He burns by fire the sin in our hearts, destroying the works of the devil. For those who have endured on the inward cross, his fire is the one baptism, the baptism of fire, which is the baptism of death; and then those true seekers are raised (resurrected) with Christ to be a new creature.]
|2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 |
7 And to you who are afflicted, to give rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,1 [Believers that are alive on earth receive rest with Paul when Jesus is revealed! More certain evidence that the appearance of Jesus, (you see Jesus as He is revealed), is to be experienced by purified believers while still alive on the earth.]
8 Taking vengeance in flaming fire on those who do not know God, and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ;
9 Who will be punished with everlasting destruction, separated from the face of the Lord and away from his glorious power.2
