Matthew 1:21

Display Chapter and Footnotes

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS, for he shall save his people from their sins."2 [Jesus saves people from their sins, not in their sins. He doesn't save us from the consequence of our sins, he saves us from our slavery to sin — he is the deliverer — he rescues men from their sins. For this purpose the Son of God is revealed [in us], that he might destroy [in us] the works [sin] of the devil. 1 John 3:8-10.]

18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor [in Spirit]; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted [who mourn due to their slavery to sin], to preach release to the captives [of sin], and recovery of sight to the [spiritually] blind, to deliver [free] those who are oppressed [in slavery to sin],2 [The gospel is the ministry of the Spirit to totally free you from sin, as you repent from your old ways of selfishness on the inward cross of self-denial; to be washed, cleansed, and purified; to then be translated into kingdom of Christ; and then to live in union with Christ and God, on earth and forever.]

Romans 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it is the power of God to salvation to everyone who believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. [The gospel is the ministry of the Spirit to totally free you from sin, as you repent from your old ways of selfishness on the inward cross of self-denial; to be washed, cleansed, and purified; to then be translated into kingdom of Christ; and then to live in union with Christ and God, on earth and forever. ]

1 Corinthians 1:18

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing; but to us who are being saved the cross is the power of God.5 [Those who take up the inward cross of self-denial quickly experience the power of God to begin freeing them from sin. From the Word of the Lord within: "With the true gospel there is ample proof along the way. There are many that deny the cross and all that is necessary. He who is not on the cross is not worthy of me. The purpose of this website is to teach you how to carry your cross. Every man that comes, must come through the cross;—I say every man!"]

Philippians 2:12

12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.1 [From the Word of the Lord within: "Salvation is to be delivered from sin. Salvation is being freed from even the desire of your sins." In His messages to the seven churches, Jesus mentions to every church, (all seven), how their works are key. Jesus said, I have not found your works perfect before God. Rev 3:2-3. Jesus wants perfect works.]

Hebrews 5:9,9:28

9 And being made perfect, he [Jesus] became the author and source of eternal salvation to all those who heed and obey him;1 [Salvation is to be delivered (freed) from all sin, even the desires, through persistent obedience to the Spirit that mortifies the selfish human spirit on the inward cross of self-denial. You must persistently and patiently wait for Him in silence to hear his commands, as you listen and watch; then heed and obey Him. From the Word of the Lord within: "Salvation occurs when you are one with Christ and God."]

28 So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who persistently and patiently wait for him he will appear the second time, not to bear sin, but to bring full salvation.3 [Those who are persistently and patiently waiting on God, see Jesus appear in their hearts, and see Jesus bring their salvation, which is to be delivered (freed) from all sin. To wait on God is to persistently sit in humble silence, listen for his voice and words, watch for his revelations, hear his commands, and then obey Him; only those who heed and obey Him receive eternal salvation. Heb 5:9. But if we hope for what we do not yet see, then we wait for it [salvation] with patient endurance, Rom 8:25; we wait for salvation. From the Word of the Lord within: "You must wait on the Lord to receive salvation."]
