Matthew 6:5-8

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites are; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.

But when you pray, go to your inner room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. [Your most inner room is your heart.]

Pray, but do not babble repetitiously as the heathen do, thinking that by their many words they will be heard.[Do not be rash with your mouth, and do not let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God. For God is in heaven, and you are upon the earth; therefore let your words be few. Ecc 5:2]

Do not be like them for your Father knows the things you need, even before you ask him.
