4 Poverty and shame shall be to him who refuses instruction, but he who welcomes reproof shall be honored. The Holy Spirit reproves the world [every man in the world] of sin. The light is given to every man so that they might believe it; that light is Christ, and if you believe what he attempts to teach you, then you will be taught more and eventually be saved and honored. Every man and woman has their day of visitation from the Lord, when He anonymously reasons with us to turn from evil and do right. He clearly reasons with irrefutable logic, but we typically ignore His counsel, reproof, and reasonings because we are stubborn and insistent on our own selfish ends. If we ignore him, he then ignores us until we sincerely and humbly turn to him, (if we ever do), seeking His guidance in life. He stands with open arms to love and guide us, but we pass by him without even noticing. Although at the time of his visitation, we quickly forget the Lord's reproofs, we will remember them at judgment and be deeply ashamed that we ignored the pleadings of our loving creator; the words we heard will be our judge. John 12:47-48
