|Proverbs 6:16-20 |
16 These six things that the LORD hates; yes, seven are an abomination to him: [What the Lord hates will certainly be banned from heaven.]
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that imagines immoral plans, feet that are swift to run to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.3
20 My son, keep your father's command, and do not ignore the law of your mother.
3 The Lord hates he who sows discord among brothers. From William Penn's Advice to Children: Abhor divisiveness, the sin of fallen angels, and the worst sin of fallen men. Paul also said: Now I beseech you, brothers, mark those who cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine that you have learned; and avoid them, Rom 16:17; and avoid foolish disputed, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. Reject a man who is divisive after a first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is perverted, and sins after being convicted, and is condemned even by himself. Titus 3:9-11.
