 5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain sound counsels;

 6 To understand a proverb and its hidden meaning; and the words of the wise with their obscure riddles. [These proverbs have hidden meanings; and to understand, you must hear, (verse 5 above)! Hear what?—hear the the wisdom and power of God, the Lord Jesus Christ speak to us. From the word of the Lord within: "He speaks to each of us mind-to-mind with words tailored to our exact understanding. Listen to and obey my voice; listen to my sweet words of wisdom." Not read his words, not hear someone else read his words or talk about Him, but hear for yourself the Lord speaking to you; Christ speaks. In humble silence, sit, wait, watch, and listen for Him to teach you and command you; but not to get specific teachings that you desire. Let wisdom instruct you according to His plan and agenda. In the end, you will know all things; but each man's journey with the Teacher is different because every man's life has been different.]

 23 If you will repent at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.

 33 But whoever listens to me and heeds what I say, shall dwell safely; and he shall be at peace from the fear of evil."3

3 But whoever listens to me and heeds what I say, shall dwell safely; and he shall be at peace from the fear of evil. If we desire peace with God, or if we wish to please our creator, then we will seek His counsel and direction. The way we do this is to go to him and wait on him, and listen silently, with the humility of a sinner in need of his changing power — his grace, to purify us.

The Lord speaks words to us that are are kind, gentle, pure, easily understood, easily accepted, peaceable, complete, morally correct, encouraging — never sarcastic, embarrassing, threatening, bitter, or harsh — never upbraiding — never incomplete, leaving you guessing what he wants; instead His words are full of love itself — his spirit of Love — for he is Love. He will tell you things about Himself. He will encourage you. He is kindness. He will tell or show you things about yourself; some will be things that are your sins. He doesn't condemn you, but he condemns your sins, which can generate your remorse and godly sorrow, but not your embarrassment. Sometimes he commands you to repent. Because he is your friend, you know that he is showing your sins to you for your own good. So you listen and watch, and you don't run; you stand before the Son of Man, and you repent of what he shows you. You are hearing the Word of God, the living Word. And hopefully you will obey his commands to repent and thus show him you love him by being obedient. You may not hear for days to weeks of patient daily waiting, but if you are sincere, you will eventually hear; and with obedience, you will hear with increasing frequency.

So wait, watch, listen, hear, obey... wait, watch, listen, hear, obey..... seek, listen, obey. Here is what the Lord tells us: Listen to and obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk completely in the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well to you. Jer 7:23.
