|Psalms 26 |
1 Vindicate me, O LORD, for I have walked in my integrity; I have trusted in the LORD and I shall not slip.
2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my heart and my mind.
3 For your loving kindness is before my eyes, and I have walked in your truth.
4 I have not sat with deceitful people, nor will I go with hypocrites.
5 I have hated the assembly of evil doers and will not sit with the wicked.
6 I will wash my hands in innocence, and go about your altar, O LORD,
7 That I may proclaim your praise with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all your wondrous works.
8 LORD, I have loved the habitation of your house, and the place where your glory dwells.
9 Do not gather my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
10 In whose hands is a wicked scheme, and whose right hand is full of bribes.
11 But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; redeem me and be merciful to me.
12 My foot stands in an even place; I will bless the LORD in the congregations.

1 I have not sat with deceitful people, nor will I go with hypocrites. I have hated the assembly of evil doers and will not sit with the wicked. What is a hypocrite? Someone who talks about religion and continues to sin; someone who talks about God and Jesus, but who sins like the devil. Jesus told us who were hypocrites: You are the ones who declare yourselves upright before men, but God knows your hearts. Luk 16:15. These people draw near Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts hold off and are far away from Me. Mat 15:8. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness [sin] . Mat 23:28. David would refuse to attend any Christendom's sect meetings because they all honor Jesus and God with their lips, while their hearts are defiled, as Jesus defined a defiled heart: For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man. Mark 7:21-23. David would not set foot in any of today's so-called Christian meetings.
So then those who are in the flesh cannot please God. For if you live after the flesh, you will die; but if through the Spirit you mortify [put to death] the deeds of the body, you will live. Rom 8:8,13. Therefore mortify [put to death] the deeds of the body which are of the earthly life; fornication, impurity, inordinate affections, evil lusts of the flesh, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Col 3:5. Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh [the sinful nature] with its passions and desires [lusts and affections]. Gal 5:24. The way this is done is to Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8 Who do you think James was writing to? He was writing to those in the churches, still captive to sin. Notice he says draw near to God. God is not found in sect meetings. God is not found in reading scriptures. You must go to him. You must wait on him — listen silently, with the humility of a sinner in need of his changing power — grace.
