Psalms 75

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

We give thanks to you, O God, to you do we give thanks; for your wondrous works declare that your name is near.

"When I choose the proper time, I will judge uprightly.

When the earth and all its inhabitants melt and are dissolved, I will uphold its pillars. Selah.

I said to the arrogant,'Do not deal arrogantly;' and to the wicked, 'do not lift not up your horn' [a symbol of strength or power].

Do not lift up your horn on high, do not speak with an outstretched neck [arrogance].'"

For exaltation does not come from the east nor from the west nor from the south.

But God is the judge! He puts down one and lifts up another.

For there is a cup in the hand of the LORD, and the wine is red [His wrath] and fully mixed; he pours out of it and all the wicked of the earth shall drain it out and drink its dregs.

But I will declare forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

"All the horns of the wicked I will cut off; but the horns [symbold of strength or power] of the righteous shall be exalted."
