¹ The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart [so that you may obey it]; that is, the word of faith, which we preach. Paul is quoting from the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 30:10-14, to clearly explain exactly what and where is the word:

When you listen to and heed the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in this book of the law, and when you return to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Deu 30:10

[Where is this voice of the LORD your God to be heard? Where is God to be turned to with all our heart and soul? In verse 14 below he answers: "the word," (who is God, John 1:1), "is very near to you, in your mouth and in your heart so that you may obey it."]

For this command which I command you this day is not hidden from you, nor is it far off. Deu 30:11
It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?' Deu 30:12
Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?' Deu 30:13
But the word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, so that you may obey it. Deu 30:14

[God is near you, in your heart and mouth to be obeyed. Turn inward to hear, learn, become pure, become holy, to know God, to see God, to be with Him.]

Paul emphasized the above Old Testament verses when he wrote in Romans: "But what did it say? 'The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart [so you may hear and obey it];'that is the word of faith, which we preach." Rom 10:6-8. The word of God is the name of Christ; and faith in "that is the word of faith, which we preach," is to have faith that the words you hear from within your heart, (teaching, counseling, and commanding you), are from the Spirit of God — and therefore you obey and practice what you have heard. For as Paul writes in Rom 10:17, "then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God," which word is in your heart to be heard, believed and obeyed. From the Word of the Lord within: "Faith is to hear the Word of God and obey."

And when you hear the Lord speaking to you, teaching you, encouraging you, correcting you — then your faith begins to grow exponentially. John confirms the word of God within a man: "I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you," 1 John 2:14. How are you supposed to hear Christ speaking to you?—by exposing yourself to His spoken commands. How do you expose yourself to His commands?—to persistently and patiently sit in humble silence as you wait on Him by listening for His words and watching for the visions of His word.

*Notice THE COLOSSAL MISTAKE! The Jews were told in Deu 30:10, in order to keep his written commandments and statutes in this book of law, they must listen to and heed the voice of the Lord. Studying the book, (bible), is not enough; you must listen and heed the voice of the Lord. Although the Jews heard their priests read the scriptures every Sabbath day, it was not enough for His word to be implanted in their hearts; they didn't really understand the scriptures, which they so diligently studied in hope of finding eternal life; and without the Lord teaching them the scriptures' true meaning, they then persecuted Jesus and his Apostles — all because the Jews had only studied scriptures instead of doing their best to listen to and heed the voice of the Lord. Thus the vast majority of Jews never had their evil heart to be circumcised by the Spirit so that they could love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and might; so they could love their neighbor as themselves; so they could see His form and hear His voice; and so that they would not die while still sinning. Those abilities do not come by the will of man trying; those abilities only come by God circumcising your heart, which results by your persistent and patient listening to and heeding the voice of the Lord — then the love of God is perfected in your heart.

Today Christianity is making the exact, same, colossal mistake, studying the scriptures instead of what the New Testament also clearly states is the number one priority and the only one thing necessary:

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness... Matthew 6:33. (the number 1 priority)

And He told us how to seek Him, the one thing we needed to do:

There is only one thing needed and Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her..Mary sat at Jesus' feet and heard his [spoken] words. Luke 10:39,42 (the only one thing needed)

Jesus also said:

• "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock. If any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Rev 3:20
• "Whoever comes to me to listen to my spoken words and does [practices, obeys] them, I will show you what he is like. He is like a man who built a house, and dug deep and laid the foundation securely built on a rock; and when the flood arose, the torrent beat violently upon that house, but could not shake it because it was founded on a rock." Luke 6:47-49.
  
• "The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life-giving," John 6:63
  
• "Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice." John 18:37
• "My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me." John 10:27
  (To follow Jesus is to obey what He commands you to do — that is operational faith that is alive, not dead.)

Surely he loves the people; all your holy ones are in your power. And they sit at your feet, each receiving your words. Deu 33:3

From the Word of the Lord within:

• "My word is in your heart and mouth.
• To hear and obey is hard.
• Only those who want to be clean can hear.
• Listen to and obey my voice, and I will be your God.
• Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.
• He speaks to each of us mind-to-mind with words tailored to our exact understanding — my word.
• Listen well to my words; attend to them.
• What's going to happen, you might hear.
• Those who sit at the feet of Christ to hear His word — their ground is to wait.
• In humble silence we sit and wait.
• Think on His name. 
• To sit in humble silence, waiting on the Lord, is to bear the cross — instead of thinking how you might please others.
• When you sit and wait, hope for purity, hope for change.
• Hope releases the power of God to change you.
• What is the evidence of your belief? — operational faith.
• Faith is to hear the Word of God and obey.
• When you have heard the dead words in the Bible and recall them, heed what is said; always obedient to His commands.
• And to those who obey, he will appear like a magnificent star in your heart.
• Once again, my word is in your heart and mouth, which is there to obey."

Those words we hear him speak to us are engrafted into your heart, James 1:21;
and those words we hear him speak to us are Spirit and impart the life of God to us, John 6:63;
which life of God is Christ, John 1:5, 14:6, so that Christ is formed within you, Gal 4:19.
Until finally Christ is fully formed and actually resurrected in you. 2 Cor 4:14,Col 2:11-12,3:1,Eph 2:5-6,Gal 2:20,Rom 8:11
You then see Christ, the glory of God, appear in your heart and witness him bringing your salvation and eternal life.

The Pentecostal "word of faith" movement radically twists the word of faith in your heart to be having faith in the Bible. They preach that if one believes the Bible, (what they call the Word of God), and confesses it, then the believer shall receive what they confess; they call it "standing on the word of faith," and use it to preach their gospel of financial prosperity, which is nothing but covetousness. The same leadership of the "word of faith" movement conducts services featuring drunkenness, revelry, screaming, shouting, foolishness, collapsing, twitching, jerking, and uncontrolled laughter — all of which evidence fruits of the flesh and are the opposite of self-control, peace, and gentleness, which are the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Regarding false prophets, Jesus told us: "you will know them by their fruits;" do not be misled.
