Zechariah 5

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

Then I turned, and lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold a flying scroll.

And he said to me, "What do you see?" And I answered, "I see a flying scroll; its length is thirty feet and its width is fifteen feet."

Then he said to me, "This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: everyone who steals shall be expelled according to what is written on one side of the scroll, and everyone who swears falsely shall be expelled according to what is written on the other side of the scroll.

I will send out the curse, says the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name; and it shall remain in his house and shall consume it, both its timbers and its stones."

Then the angel who talked with me came forward and said to me, "Now lift up your eyes and see what this is that goes forth."

And I asked, "What is it?" And he said, "This is a measuring basket that goes forth." He said moreover, "This is the appearance of iniquity through all the earth."

And behold, there was a lead cover which was lifted up, and there was a woman who sat in the basket.

And he said, "This is wickedness." And he pushed her back into the basket and he pushed the weight of lead back over the mouth of it.

Then lifted I up my eyes and looked, and behold, there were two women coming. The wind was in their wings for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between the earth and the heavens.

Then said I to the angel who talked with me, "Where are they taking the basket?"

And he said to me, "To build it a house in the land of Babylon; and when it is finished, to set it there upon its own base."
