Zechariah 6

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

 1 And I turned and lifted up my eyes and looked; and behold, four chariots came out from between two mountains, and the mountains were mountains of bronze.

 2 With the first chariot were red horses, with the second chariot black horses,

 3 With the third chariot white horses, and with the fourth chariot dappled bay horses.

 4 Then I asked the angel who talked with me, "What are these, my lord?"

 5 And the angel said to me, "These are the four spirits of the heaven, which go out from standing before the LORD of all the earth.

 6 The one with the black horses is going into the north country, the white are going after them, and the dappled are going toward the south country."

 7 Then the powerful horses went out, straining to go, so that they might walk to and fro through the earth. And he said, "Depart from here, walk to and fro through the earth." So they walked to and fro through the earth.

 8 Then he called, and spoke to me, saying, "Behold, these who go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country."

 9 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying:

 10 "Take an offering from the exiles, from Heldai, from Tobijah, and from Jedaiah, who have come from Babylon; and go the same day and go to the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah.

 11 Then take the silver and gold, make crowns, and set one of them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;

 12 And speak to him, saying: 'Thus says the LORD of hosts: Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH, for he shall branch out from his place and he shall build the [true] temple of the LORD.

 13 It is he who shall build the [true] temple of the LORD, and he shall be clothed with glory and shall sit and rule upon his throne. And he shall also be a priest upon his throne, and harmony and peace shall be between the king and priest.'

 14 And the crowns shall be to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD.

 15 And those who are far off shall come and help build the temple of the LORD, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. And this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God."

1 this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God. Spiritual progress results from hearing the Word within your heart, (the Voice of the Lord), and obeying it. Faith is hearing the Word of God within your heart and diligently obeying (keeping, doing) it. As the Lord said in Jer 7:23: Listen to and obey my voice and I will be your God and you will be my people; and walk the whole way I command you, that it may be well with you.
